5.2.7 Devolved governments | Life in the UK Test 2026

Since 1997, some powers have been devolved (transferred) from the central UK government to national bodies in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh can pass laws on many issues including education, health, and transport. The Senedd (Welsh Parliament) in Cardiff has powers over education, health, and the environment. The Northern Ireland Assembly at Stormont in Belfast can make decisions on local matters.
